Young psychiatrists

Members of the Young Psychiatrists Section of Serbia can be doctors specializing in psychiatry or psychiatric specialists, psychologists, and social workers up to 40 years of age, or those with up to 5 years of specialist training for specialists who are residents of Serbia.

Objectives of the Section

The primary objectives of the Section, include ongoing professional and scientific development, continuous exchange of information, participation in organizing educational events, and providing opportunities for young colleagues in psychiatry to exchange experiences both within Serbia and internationally. The Section also aims to support involvement in research related to education and mental health, as well as active participation in international psychiatric organizations.

Regular Activities

Regular updates will be provided to members via email and the Young Psychiatrists Section website regarding domestic and international congresses, schools, workshops, seminars in continuing medical education, scholarships, and other opportunities for professional development. Involvement of the Young Psychiatrists Section in the organization of educational programs for young psychiatrists during major psychiatric conferences in the country.

International Cooperation:

• In 2009, the Section was integrated into the activities of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Early Career Psychiatrists Council. Further details are available here.
• In 2010, after fulfilling the necessary requirements, the Section became a full member of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) during the annual Forum held in Dubrovnik. More information can be found here.

Research and Participation in Symposia:

  • Section members are actively involved in working groups within the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) and participate in projects addressing various aspects of psychiatric specialization.
  • A survey was conducted among psychiatric trainees at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Medicine, to investigate the reasons for choosing psychiatry as a profession, as well as the attitudes toward the strengths and challenges of the current specialization program. The results were presented at the EFPT Forums in 2009 and 2010.
  • In collaboration with young psychiatrists from Greece and Russia, a comparative study was conducted regarding specialization programs in 13 countries of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. The findings were presented at the symposium “Psychiatric training in Eastern Europe and the Balkans: compatibility, exchange, evolution, and modeling” at the 2nd Congress of the Association of Psychiatrists of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, in Moscow, 2009.
  • Experiences from Serbia were shared at the symposium “Psychiatric reform and its implications in psychiatric education and training in South-Eastern Europe” during the First International Conference for Trainees, as part of the National Psychiatric Congress of Greece, in Eratini, 2010.
  • Section members are currently involved in a research project under the EFPT Scientific Research Working Group titled “Second Victim: the impact of a patient’s suicide on psychiatrists,” with preliminary results to be presented in a poster session at the 33rd Congress of the European Psychiatric Association in 2025.

Sekcija je uključena u Radne grupe za naučna-istraživanja i za psihoterapiju pri Evropskoj federaciji specijalizanata psihijatrije (EFPT) i njihove projekte koji se tiču različitih aspekata specijalizacije iz psihijatrije.

U saradnji sa mladim psihijatrima Grčke i Rusije obavljeno je uporedno istraživanje vezano za programe specijalizacije u 13 zemalja Istočne Evrope i Balkana, rezultati su prezentovani u okviru simpozijuma „Psychiatric training in Eastern Europe and the Balkans: compatibility, exchange, evolution and modeling“, na II Kongresu Udruženja psihijatara Istočne Evrope i Balkana, u Moskvi, 2009. godine.

Iskustva iz naše zemlje Sekcija je prezentovala i na simpozijumu “Psychiatric reform and its implications in psychiatric education and training in South-Eastern Europe”, tokom Prve međunarodne konferencije specijalizanata u okviru nacionalnog psihijatrijskog sastanka Grčke, u Eratiniju, 2010. godine.

Novosti:

Program za međunarodnu razmenu pri Evropskoj federaciji specijalizanata psihijatrije (EFPT) počeće sa radom od januara 2012. godine. Zemlje koje aktuelno nude boravke u svojim ustanovama su Hrvatska, Danska, Francuska, Irska, Portugalija, Španija i Velika Britanija, a kasnije će biti objavljene i ponude drugih zemalja. Prijavljivanje je dostupno i za specijalizante iz Srbije. Prijava kandidata za prvu fazu razmene (period januar-jul 2012. godine) je od 1. novembra do 15. decembra 2011. godine.
