Forum on psychotherapy – 70 years after Freud

IV Forum of the Institute of Mental Health – “Forum on Psychotherapy – 70 Years After Freud”

On the occasion of the Institute of Mental Health’s Day, a two-day Forum on psychotherapy titled “70 years after Freud” was held on April 23-24, 2009, at the Belgrade Drama Theater.

The Forum was organized by the Institute of Mental Health and the Serbian Psychiatric Association, with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia as the patron.

The Director of the Institute of Mental Health, Prof. Dr. Dušica Lečić-Toševski, stated at the opening of the event that, since its founding, psychotherapy has been a significant activity of the Institute.
Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljević explained that every contact with a patient represents psychotherapy in a broader sense. Emphasizing that “in every contact with a patient, there is Freud,” whose influence on medicine is paradigmatic, Milosavljević pointed out that the Strategy for the Improvement of Mental Health must have clear, visible, and documented results.
At the Forum, held under the motto “Let’s love and work together,” lectures were given by distinguished local and international experts in the field of psychiatry, including Zagorka Bradić, Dr. Dragan Švrakić, Miroslava Jašović Gašić, Jen Valburg, Michel Botbol, Jonathan Bradley, and others.
