Award

By the decision of the IO UPS (Executive board of the Association of Psychiatrists of Serbia) at the General Assembly of the Association held in December 2014, the Association of Psychiatrists of Serbia will award the annual award for the best scientific and research work of young people published in the past school year, to stimulate high-quality research in Serbian psychiatry and honour the legacy of Professor Vladimir F. Vujic (13.02.1894-25.11.1953).

As a young scientist, Dr. Vladimir Vujic began his research in Prague, publishing the work “Sinsexes of Hallucinatory Voice and Vision of Color,” which introduced a previously unknown phenomenon to neuropsychiatrists of that era. Furthering his education in Vienna under the guidance of Nobel laureate Julius Wagner-Jauregg, Professor Vujic passionately advocated for a thorough understanding and application of good scientific practices while respecting psychoanalytic techniques. His efforts in teaching neuropsychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade helped integrate psychology and psychopathology into the curriculum, contributing significantly to psychiatric and medical advancements in Serbia.

With a commitment to upholding Professor Vujic’s mission, the Association of Psychiatrists will grant the “Vladimir F. Vujic Award”, amounting to 1000 euros, awarded in dinar equivalent, aims to support further education (conferences, schools, or other educational activities) and will be accessible one year after the award announcement.
